Laboratory Services

BC Laboratories and BC Cancer have identified an issue with the test used to screen for colon cancer.

April 19, 2018 - Recent fecal immunochemical test (FIT) results are showing an increase in the number of positive screens being returned – more patients are testing positive than is typical. This higher rate was detected by the improved monitoring put in place last year, following a similar issue.

Our goal is "to provide high quality diagnostic services in an efficient and patient centered manner."

Northern Health Laboratory Services offers an extensive testing menu, analyzing blood, body fluids, and tissues. This service allows health care professionals to diagnose and subsequently treat patient injury and disease.

The team of Lab Technologists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, Pathologists and Administrative Staff works together to ensure that these tests are performed quickly, efficiently, and accurately.

Northern Health Laboratories are committed to providing high quality results in a timely manner. We know that at least 85 per cent of medical decisions are affected by information from the Lab, and our staff work hard to ensure that results are time sensitive and precise.
