Northern Health conducts prevention campaigns on key illnesses and diseases. Some of our more significant campaigns include our NH influenza pages and our annual immunization campaign, as well as information on gastrointestinal illness and West Nile virus.

Northern Health has removed precautions at Simon Fraser Lodge in Prince George, B.C. following a gastrointestinal illness outbreak. Staff and physicians worked hard to contain the The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is warning consumers that Hepatitis A virus has been detected in a sample of Western Family brand fresh pineapple chunks sold in ready-to-go cups. Please see the link above for details. If you live in the north and have consumed contaminated product, please visit the emergency rooms in Terrace (Mills Memorial Hospital), Fort St. John or Prince George (UHNBC) to obtain the Hepatitis A vaccine. You can also enquire at your local pharmacy if they have the vaccine in stock. Additional products may be identified over the next few days, please check the BCCDC web site for the latest information on who should receive hepatitis A vaccine.
