Program Overview

The Northern Health Pharmacy Practice Residency Program provides an opportunity to further your pharmacy studies while enjoying the unique Northern BC lifestyle. As a pharmacy resident, your experience will be centered at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, BC. Originally established as a single resident program in 2003 it has since grown to accept two residents annually.

Northern Health's  Pharmacy Practice Residency Program focuses on the provision of pharmaceutical care to a variety of patients in both acute and ambulatory settings in a rural northern community. The majority of rotations occur at in Prince George at the University Hospital of Northern BC, with opportunities for rotations in more rural communities, such as Quesnel and Dawson Creek.

The pharmacists at Northern Health are committed to direct patient care as members of interdisciplinary teams.

They provide services to:

  • ICU
  • Internal Medicine
  • Family Medicine
  • Clinical Teaching Unit
  • Surgery, Renal Clinic
  • Out Patient VTE Clinic and the Long Term Care Facility. 

The pharmacists are also committed to teaching and learning and precept pharmacy and medical students.
